In 1983, owner Karen Brutsche’ launched her tanning business in Reston, Virginia. The first thing you notice when you walk into the Solar Planet is that each customer is treated like an individual. Karen and her staff talk to their customers about their skin type and what exposure schedule they should use for their particular skin type.
“We love to explain the tanning process and the pros and cons of tanning. Most people are amazed at how much they did not know about tanning.” Our tanning salons are convenient to many parts of Fairfax County and Loudoun County in Northern VA including Reston, Herndon, Chantilly, Great Falls, Oakton, Vienna, Sterling, Ashburn, Lansdowne, Leesburg, Purcellville, Middleburg, Aldie and Round Hill.
As you see, this is not one of those large chains where you are just another customer. Great care is taken for the best possible service. A variety of tanning equipment is available from conventional beds and stand-ups to the newest in VHR tanning. The Solar Planet’s professional staff will determine your Customized Tan Plan. They will match you to the equipment and exposure schedule based on your skin type.
The Solar Planet is a member of International Smart Tan, which chose The Solar Planet as a Smart Tan Award Finalist, and a member of the Indoor Tanning Association. The staff is certified each year in these associations and adhere to their rigorous standards.

Saturday: 9am – 6pm
Sunday: 10am – 5pm
